cook oriental food and buy authentic Asian ingredients online Thai Street Vendor Video Series:
Khanom Tang Taek, Bankrupcy Sweets

The sidewalk chef here makes Tang Taek which is similar to Khanom Buang. It's very difficult to find street vendors selling this, but in days gone by it was a very inexpensive "poor man's meal" so cheap that anyone could afford it. The literal translation of Tang Taek is "broken bucket" which is phrase for bankruptcy. For something similar to that you can make on your own, see our recipe for khanom buang.

Hi, having a website like yours sure help with the cooking quite a bit. I tried making Pad Thai a while back but it didn't come out the way it suppose to.. After reviewing the street vendor video series, I know now what I did wrong - and on top of that I'm learning how to make other dishes as well. Thank you! - kob koon ka!
